Lottie has been creating musical theatre with children for over ten years. Originally writing musicals for the local community in her hometown of Wimbledon, Lottie turned her attention to writing Shakespeare musicals for schools, to bring the Bard to young people in an engaging and innovative way while fitting in with the national curriculum. Lottie is passionate about adapting Shakespeare plays into accessible, energetic musicals with completely original music and lyrics, appropriate for performance by 11- to 16-year-olds.
Outside of Shakespeare, Birnam Oak Productions can provide a wide variety of musicals to fit any requested theme and age range, from 6 years old and up. All our musicals are adaptable to any number of students, from drama clubs to whole-school productions. Please see ‘Packages’ for further details.
Lottie believes in treating young performers like professionals in order to give them the most enjoyable and rewarding experience, and she is an advocate for supporting each performer throughout the rehearsal journey to make them feel fully at ease and confident in their abilities.
Prior to founding Birnam Oak Productions, Lottie has worked as an English teacher in Spain, a music and drama educator in nurseries for TheatreBugs, and a team co-ordinator within children’s social care. She can also be found performing as a singer-pianist at Sandy’s Piano Bar. Lottie has a BA in Spanish and Music and a Master’s degree in Spanish Translation.

Lottie is an exceptionally gifted composer and lyricist. The two shows she has produced for us, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, were loved by the students with cleverly written and highly original songs.
Lottie is also such a talented pianist and a brilliant musical director. She works with such energy and positivity in rehearsal and was able to draw strong performances from even less experienced musicians.
